Summit HS Baseball and Softball

The current conditions at MISD baseball and softball fields have downfalls that result in less practice and playing time than surrounding area districts.  Installing turf on MISD baseball and softball fields as well as covered batting cages will allow players and coaches to continue play even in the midst of inclement weather.  In addition to extended playing time, turf provides a more durable and low maintenance option for the fields reducing upkeep costs in the long term.

  • Total Project Cost (Architect, General Contractor, Fees, Equipment)- $7.092 Million 

  • Estimated Completion December 2025

  • The construction budgets for the Bond Program encompass architect fees and all related expenses.

Project budgets can change during design, and completion dates are subject to change based on weather, materials availability, and contractor labor irregularities.

Project Goals:

  • Install turf on baseball and softball field

Progress:

  • Voters Approved BOND May 4, 2024 

  • Bond Sales for Phase 1 Completed June 25, 2024 

  • Board approves Huckabee & Associates as Primary Architect May 2024 

  • Construction Manager at Risk- Lee Lewis Construction (RFP Issued July 29, 2024) 

  • Community Site Visits

  • The final GMP was approved at the May board meeting and Notice to Proceed has been issued to Lee Lewis Construction.
  • Final site walks have been conducted with Athletics, the MISD Maintenance Department, Huckabee Architects, and Lee Lewis Construction in preparation for groundbreaking.
  • Geo-Technical reports have been issued and reviewed by Huckabee Architects and Sports Design Group, with site preparation recommendations finalized.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin this month with substantial completion targeted for December 31, 2025.  Awaiting permit from the City of Arlington.
