The student must be a resident of the State of Texas at the time of transfer request submission.

In the prior academic year, the student must have: 

• No more than 4 unexcused absences per year
• No more than 5 unexcused late arrivals or late pick-ups to and from school per year.

In the prior academic year, the student’s total attendance must be 96% or better, including both excused and unexcused absences.

The student must not have: 

• Exhibited persistent behavior concerns resulting in 3 or more office referrals in the calendar year.
• Exhibited serious misbehaviors resulting in exclusionary discipline consequences.

The student must demonstrate appropriate academic progress, as evidenced by: 

• Passing all classes with 80% or higher if grades are given
• Satisfactory performance on Standards Based Report Cards
• Satisfactory scores on standardized assessments:
  • K-2 - Literacy and Math Screeners
    • MISD Kindergarten Readiness Screener for all incoming kindergarteners will be scheduled for administration in MISD.
  • 3rd - STAAR Math & Reading Scores

The student's admission should not require the district to: 

• Hire new staff. 
• Reassign existing staff. 
• Provide specialized training to existing staff or additional supports not readily available at the campus and/or grade level requested.

The Destination Mansfield out-of-district transfer program is available for select campuses in the district. The following schools are open to transfer requests for students in grades K-4:

* Please note that specialized Choice programs on campuses in MISD are not open for transfers.

To demonstrate eligibility for the Destination Mansfield transfer program, applicants must submit documentation supporting their eligibility in all the categories listed above. All required documents must be submitted within the timeline provided by the district to avoid a potential denial of the transfer request. In some cases, conditional approval may be given pending scores.

Parents/guardians whose Destination Mansfield transfer request is approved will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the approved campus. 

• Mansfield ISD will not provide specialized transportation under an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for transfer students. Specialized transportation as a related service is available through the student’s home district. 
• Parents must ensure the student is delivered and picked up on time from the assigned campus and/or activities. 
• Requesting and accepting a transfer constitutes an assurance from the parent/guardian that they will provide safe and timely transportation. 
• A transfer may be revoked if the parent/guardian fails to provide safe and timely transportation. 

• Ensure that all required documents are submitted promptly to meet the eligibility requirements. Applications will not be processed without the required documents. (attendance record, discipline record, report card, special programs documentation if applicable IEP, 504, ARD paperwork, GT, Speech etc..)  
• Late or incomplete applications will result in a denial of the transfer request. 
• Parents/guardians must take responsibility for all aspects of transportation as outlined above. 
• Failure to abide by the conditions set in the eligibility criteria may result in revocation of the inter-district transfer at semester or the end of the school year.
