The community is invited to a day of family fun during the district's annual back-to-school bash on Saturday, Aug. 6
Mansfield ISD will host its annual back-to-school bash on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts (1110 W. Debbie Lane, Mansfield, Texas 76063).
The Bash will officially kickoff the start of the 2022-23 school year. In addition to a wide variety of activities and games, there will be school supplies, student health services and more—completely free of charge for all Mansfield ISD students.
Mansfield ISD police will direct traffic on the day of the event, and MISD staff and sponsor volunteers will assist with getting the free items distributed to families. To help alleviate traffic congestion in the area, free shuttles will be running throughout the event at Legacy High School and Summit High School to transport participants to and from The Bash. Shuttles will begin at 7:15 a.m.
An event day map has been provided to help families locate all of the free services and activities, including student performance times and campus locations, being offered at The Bash.
At the bash, school supplies, shoes, haircuts and health services will be provided free of charge to MISD students.
Backpacks and shoes will be given to Mansfield ISD families on a first come, first serve basis. Backpacks, limited to four per family, will be distributed at the Ben Barber Innovation Academy (across the parking lot from the Center for the Performing Arts). Shoes, limited to two per family, will be distributed at the Center for Performing Arts. In order to receive a pair of shoes, students must be present.
Services include: immunizations (for required school shots and optional COVID-19 immunizations for ages 12 and up), eye exams and other health resources. Please bring your child's shot records to take part in the free immunizations.
No registration is required, but families will be required to check in for the school supplies and health services provided. Parents/students should be ready to provide the student's ID number on the day of the event for verification.
Community groups and businesses that wish to provide relevant services, products and information to attendees have the opportunity to occupy a booth at the bash. Booth space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Reserve your space here.
If you have questions about an existing booth request, please contact Elizabeth Carmody at 817- 299-6369 or ElizabethCarmody@misdmail.org.
Each campus will be in attendance with fun activities like bounce houses, obstacle courses and more to interact with our MISD families. In addition, a variety of student performances will be held in the Performing Arts Center. This will be an opportunity for parents/guardians and students to meet with the campuses they will attend and see some of the many programs Mansfield ISD has to offer.
SPONSORSHIPS AND DONATIONS
Through various sponsorships and donations, the district is able to provide backpacks filled with school supplies through our Stuff the Bus Campaign community fundraiser. Our goal is to give away more than 4,000 backpacks as well as 1,500 pairs of shoes at this year's event. The money raised will be used to buy the items that will be distributed at the bash.
