Professional Learning

Professional learning begins with a week of preparation for all teachers and support staff before the official start of school. For the 2022-23 school term, teachers and all support staff will report back to work on Monday, Aug. 8.

Professional Development Week will be held August 8-12 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily. (Both Aug. 8 and Aug. 12 are designated as teacher workdays / staff development days.)

Professional Development One-Stop Shop

Summer Curriculum Conference

The MISD Summer Curriculum & Instruction Conference will be held May 30 - June 2, 2023 at Lake Ridge High School unless the session description designates an alternate location.

The theme of the conference will be Explore & Practice: Choose Your Own Learning Adventure with over over 200 engaging sessions to meet the needs of all attendees.

The courses, free for all MISD employees and $25 for out-of-district attendees, will give staff the opportunity to continue their quest for knowledge and earn SDCE/CPE credit hours.

Sessions include courses on the core subject areas and other content-specific areas to further your professional development. (All sessions will be released on April 28. )

Registration starts May 2 and ends on May 27. You can preview the courses as early as Friday, April 28. View courses and get registered. (If space permits, onsite registration may be available.)

Mansfield Training of Professionals (MTOP)

Mansfield Training of Professionals (MTOP), the district's orientation program for new professional staff, will be held at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts on:

  • August 2 - 4, 2022 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • August 5, 2022 | 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Teachers, counselors, nurses, librarians and any other professional staff positions, should register for MTOP here.

All professional employees may earn Staff Development Credit Equivalency (SDCE) for participation in professional development activities approved by your supervisor. MISD professional employees supporting curriculum, instruction and assessment must earn twelve hours of SDCE credit annually.
