High School Summer School Course Offerings

Summer school offers students the opportunity to take courses for Credit Recovery or Credit Acceleration. Courses are divided into two semesters. Each semester counts ONE half credit. Students can sign up for either ONE half-credit course or TWO courses each worth a half credit. If a student needs to attain or regain credit for a full year-long course, the student would need to complete both semesters of the course.

For each course listed, the Semester I = A, and the Semester 2 = B. In some cases, minimum class sizes must be met in order for the class to make. Courses cost $150 per half-credit and must be paid in full before the course begins. Once students begin a course, students are not eligible for refunds. Summer School FAQs for High School Students

High School Credit Acceleration Academy

Credit acceleration courses are online classes that provide students with the flexibility to complete course assignments as their schedule permits. These classes are not self-paced classes because a student may be penalized if he/she does not maintain a pace to complete the course in the designated timeframe. However, students may work ahead in the course and possibly complete the course before the designated end-date. Credit Acceleration courses are not weighted and credit is not awarded as AP or Pre-AP.

Students are able to access advanced credit courses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, students are only required to come to campus for mid-term and final exams during the summer. Open Lab for students who need help accessing course work is available Monday through Thursday, June 5  - July 21 from 8:00 am – noon at Timberview High School with the exception of July 2 – 5, 2018. Students will need to make arrangements to take mid-terms and final exams during the following dates.

  • Semester I (June 5 - June 28) - Mid-Terms/Final Exams must be taken on or before June 26, 27 or 28.
  • Semester II (July 9 - July 31) - Mid-Terms/Final Exams must be taken on or before July 26, 30 or 31.

Satisfactory pace is the daily pace required to complete the course by the designated end date. Example: If the course is scheduled for six weeks, then a student must complete 2.4% per day in order to complete the course on time. Pace is determined by a 7-day week and not the 4-day week for summer school. If a student does not maintain a satisfactory pace in the course, he/she will be required to attend Open Lab at Timberview High School until a satisfactory pace is obtained.
