Tom Landry Award on Monday, Dec. 14.
Mansfield ISD is proud to announce that Lake Ridge High School quarterback Jett Duffey has won two top honors for Texas high school football—Mr. Texas Football 2015 and the Tom Landry Award.
The Mr. Texas Football Player of the Year is selected at the end of the high school football season based on votes cast throughout the season by fans, coaches, and players statewide. The votes are calculated by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
Duffey will be honored on-field during the upcoming AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at NRG Stadium in Houston.
The Lake Ridge senior also won the 2015 Tom Landry Award. The award named in memory of former Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry is given each year to the best high school football player in North Texas.
The Tom Landry Award winner is chosen by a voting panel of former coaches and players, members of the media, and local leaders. Nominations for The Landry Award are accepted online, and the public votes for the top five finalists.
The Tom Landry award ceremony was broadcasted on CBS 11 on Friday, Dec. 18.
