The Summit High School Academic Decathlon team took home a bronze medal in the division 5A state competition.
Academic decathlon is considered one of the most rigorous academic contests in Texas. Students of all achievement levels work together in multiple subject matters to earn medals for their high scores.
Summit High School earned its highest score ever in the competition. The team also earned 20 individual medals.
Each team member will receive a $500 scholarship for the third place finish. In addition, Jake Weaver earned a $3,500 scholarship for placing first in the honors division, and Jacob Shotkoski won a $2,500 scholarship for placing second in the varsity division.
This year marks the eighth consecutive year the Summit High team has advanced to the state competition.
