Although students are out of school for Summer Break, the Lake Ridge High School softball team is still working hard preparing for something no other softball team in Mansfield ISD has ever done.

The team clinched a spot in the UIL Softball State Tournament.

The Eagles became region champions after defeating The Woodlands High School in the regional finals. They will play on Friday, June 3 in the semifinals. If the girls win that round, they will go on to play in the state championship game on Saturday, June 4.

“It’s been really exciting to watch how they’ve been on this mission all season,” said Tammy Lusinger, MISD athletics director. “They continue to improve. They never get too exited or too down, and they’re very confident. They have definitely worked hard to be in this position, and we’re rooting for them to take home the state championship title.”

The state games will be played at the Red and Charline McCombs Field at the University of Texas at Austin. View the game schedule and ticket information for the Lake Ridge High School game here.
