Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order Tuesday that increases facility capacity to 100% and lifts the statewide mask mandate beginning Wednesday, March 10.

After the governor’s announcement, Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley stated that his countywide mask order is lifted effective immediately. Additionally, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released a statement that updated health guidance for districts will be issued this week in response.

The safety of our students, staff and families will always be top priority. Mansfield ISD is currently assessing and evaluating how this will affect the district’s current safety and health protocols. Until then, students and staff will continue to follow current practices.

Throughout this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, district administration has stayed in continuous conversation with health experts from all levels. The COVID-19 Advisory Task Force—which consists of parents, staff, students and community members—will be meeting on Thursday, March 4 to further discuss.

MISD will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any updates as necessary.
