MISD Preparing for April 8 Eclipse

On Monday, April 8, the Dallas/Fort Worth area will become a prime location to view a total eclipse of the sun. This is a historic event, and Mansfield ISD is excited to share this educational opportunity with students.

To prepare for this extraordinary event, MISD has secured eclipse viewing glasses from the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, and students will receive safety training on how to properly view the eclipse.

For their safety, MISD’s youngest students, Pre-K and Kindergarten, will view the eclipse on monitors in their classrooms. All campuses will be closed to visitors from 1:20 to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 8, as an extra security measure.

Students and parents can learn more about how to safely view an eclipse by watching this NASA video. For more information about the upcoming eclipse, visit the NASA website.
