Amid the challenges presented by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Mansfield ISD students were still able to exceed state and regional score averages for all but one of the subjects tested in the 2021 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exam.

Outperforming state averages and the average score of surrounding districts is an accomplishment MISD students have consistently achieved.

For 2021, MISD exceeded the state's performance by 10 or more percentage points in 15 of the 22 tests taken. At the regional level, MISD students scored 10 or more percentage points higher in 10 tests.

“This news is a representation of the hard work that was accomplished by students and staff last school year,” said Jennifer Young, associate superintendent of curriculum, instruction and accountability. “Even in a pandemic, we were making sure students were learning and getting their needs met. We’re seeing what works, and we’re seeing areas in which we need to improve. Nonetheless, we’re extremely proud of our students and staff for giving their all and achieving this accomplishment.”

STAAR is an assessment program designed to measure the extent to which students have learned and are able to apply the knowledge and skills defined in the state-mandated curriculum standards. A view of Mansfield ISD’s scores are below.
