MISD Named one of Nation’s Best Communities for Music Education

For the fifth consecutive year, Mansfield ISD has been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education (BCME). Each year, the NAMM Foundation recognizes school districts and individual schools nationwide for their leadership in advancing music education and expanding equitable access for all students.

“We’re proud of the work we’re doing in Mansfield ISD to provide opportunities for all students to learn about music,” said Director of Fine Arts Dr. Darwert Johnson. “From music classes in elementary school to orchestra and band in our secondary schools, we are committed to offering music as a key part of a well-rounded education.”

Recipients of the 2026 BCME Awards were selected through a comprehensive application and review process that evaluates key indicators, including funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support. To uphold the program’s rigor and credibility, all applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.
