MISD Launches New District & Campus Websites

After months of research, planning and development, Mansfield ISD is thrilled to release its new district and campus websites. Besides having a fresh new look, the district’s primary goal in the redesign was to increase accessibility and usability for all users.

A website feedback committee, consisting of MISD students, parents and staff, was formed in May 2018 and provided valuable feedback on how to improve the district’s websites. The feedback and current web analytics were evaluated and used to focus on the most popular suggestions.

“A better search feature and a more mobile-friendly site were repeated the most times as areas for improvement and requests in a redesign,” said Alicia Alford, director of web services. “These two items were made top priority along with my discoveries from Google Analytics.”

Going Responsive

Mobile device traffic to MISD’s website continues to rise. To keep up with this trend, MISD’s district and campus websites have changed from fixed width to a responsive design. A responsive design allows visitors to easily view the full website across any platform or device with minimal resizing, panning and scrolling.

Better Search Capabilities

In addition to responsiveness, MISD’s websites will feature a better internal search engine with improved filtering. Users will now experience a more powerful search panel that includes quick links and lists of top searches within the website. Direct access to each school and a link to Skyward, MISD’s student information system, can also be reached from a utility navigation bar at the top of every page on the website.

Alford noted that she hopes the new websites are not only visually appealing but will help visitors get to district and school information easier and quicker.
