Eleven Mansfield ISD fine arts students have been selected to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic and Convention in San Antonio in February. The six band students and five choir students were named All-State musicians which, according to the TMEA, is the highest honor a student can receive.
“We are incredibly proud of these students. Success is not achieved overnight but through unwavering dedication and relentless hard work,” said Fine Arts Director Dr. Darwert Johnson. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to our students’ commitment and perseverance. They have proven that, with passion and determination, dreams can become reality. Congratulations to each of our students and their directors.”
The young musicians undergo multiple rounds of auditions to qualify as an All-State musician. Beginning each fall, more than 70,000 high school students across the state audition in their TMEA region. A select group of students advances to compete against musicians in the area competition.
The highest-ranking musicians from the area contest, typically fewer than 2,000 students from across the state, qualify to perform in an ensemble in TMEA’s band, orchestra or vocal divisions. Those performances will occur Saturday, Feb. 10, during the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
Congratulations to MISD’s All-State Musicians.
