Mansfield ISD has once again been named a winner of the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence Award.

The Partner of the Year Award is the highest level of recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The award is given to organizations for adopting energy management strategies across all of the organization's buildings and plants.

This marks the sixth straight year the district has won the award.

Since the start of the MISD Energy Management Program in 2012, we have reduced utility costs by nearly $1.6 million a year, decreasing energy usage by more than 19 percent. MISD has also cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 5,000 metric tons in 2018, and has saved more than $10.4 million since 2012.

In addition, the MISD Energy Management Program educates students and families about the importance of turning off lights, closing doors and turning off water to promote conservation and sustainability.

“We’re really proud to be recognized with the ENERGY STAR Award for the sixth consecutive year,” said Associate Superintendent of Facilities and Bond Programs, Jeff Brogden. “The accomplishment is thanks to the ongoing efforts of our staff and students to save energy, money, and overall resources throughout Mansfield ISD.”

In 2017, MISD also earned the Texas Environmental Excellence Award from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. This was the first time a school district earned this award in the category of Innovative Management and Operations.

The District will be recognized at the ENERGY STAR awards ceremony on Thursday, April 11 in Washington, D.C.
