MANSFIELD, Texas — The Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees approved naming the district’s new Early Learners Academy after Holly Teague, whose work helped shape the district’s innovative approach to early childhood education and led to the creation of the Jandrucko Early Learners Academy. 

The Holly Teague Academy for Early Learners will open in fall 2027 as part of Mansfield ISD’s 2024 Bond program. The campus will provide a dedicated learning environment for the district’s youngest students and accommodate up to 750 prekindergarten students. 

Teague spent more than three decades in education as a teacher, principal, district leader and educational planner. Throughout her career, she championed the idea that early educational experiences can shape the trajectory of a child’s life. 

Teague joined Mansfield ISD as associate superintendent of Student Services and helped lay the foundation for the district’s Vision 2020 work. She also helped transform a 187-page strategic plan into a single-page vision that clearly communicated the district’s direction and connected its goals to the daily work of educators and staff. 

Her influence on early childhood education extends far beyond Mansfield. Teague has advocated for early learning environments at the state and national levels, sharing Mansfield ISD’s work with educators and educational designers across the country. Districts in Texas and across the nation have explored elements of the Jandrucko early learning model as they rethink how they educate and support young learners. 

“Holly Teague had a vision for early learning that transformed Mansfield ISD and continues to influence educators well beyond our community,” said Tiffanie Spencer, Ed.D., superintendent of Mansfield ISD. "Naming our newest school in her honor is a testament to her lasting impact on our littlest learners and their futures.” 

Today, Teague works with school districts across the country as an educational planner, helping communities develop educational visions and translate those visions into the design of new and renovated schools. 

Naming the academy for Teague recognizes a career dedicated to improving education from the classroom to district leadership and, ultimately, the design of learning environments for future generations. 

The Holly Teague Academy for Early Learners will carry forward her commitment to early learning and her belief in creating strong educational foundations for every child. 

“Early learning is the catalyst for a child’s educational journey, and Holly Teague understood its importance,” said Jandel Crutchfield, Ph.D., president of the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees. “We are proud to honor that belief by placing her name on a school where so many journeys will begin.”
