Veterans Day is a federal holiday celebrated annually on Nov. 11, and Mansfield ISD is proud to honor the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Although campus assemblies and gatherings will not be held, in alignment with MISD’s health and safety protocols for in-person learning, schools will be finding ways to recognize veterans.
Many students and staff members will be wearing red, white and blue. The significance of veterans will also be integrated into morning announcements and social studies curriculum. Veterans Day tributes will also be posted to campus social media pages.
In addition, Mansfield ISD partnered with the City of Mansfield to participate in the city’s annual Veterans Day Parade and Salute. Band and Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) students from Mansfield High School and Summit High School took part in the virtual event (video recording) that was delivered to community veterans. Veterans also received a special sign to place in their front yard and other surprises.
