Huckabee Named MISD’s Ambassador of Education

Each year, Mansfield ISD presents an award to one community partner who goes above and beyond to impact the lives of students, staff and the district. The 2023 Ambassador of Education was awarded to Chris Huckabee of Huckabee Architects, Inc.

“In addition to designing intentional spaces for learners of all ages, for years Huckabee has contributed to our entire community through sponsorships for Back to School Bash, Toys for Tots and with steadfast support of our MISD Education Foundation,” said Dr. Kimberley Cantu.

Huckabee Architects has been a partner of MISD since the mid-1980s when the district had just one high school. Since then, the Texas-based architecture firm has designed many innovative and student-centered buildings to accommodate the district’s growth.

“With their attention to detail in their designs and heart for giving back to the community, Huckabee is a true champion and cheerleader for Mansfield ISD and public education,” said MISD Board President Courtney Lackey Wilson.

Dr. Cantu surprised Huckabee with the honor at his office prior to the 2023 MISD Employee Awards Banquet where the award was announced. Huckabee Architects was also recognized at MISD’s May 23 board meeting.

“What Huckabee has always wanted to be is a great partner – somebody who is focused on the excellence of delivering for your community, students and for the teachers,” Huckabee said.  “There is no school district more important to me personally than Mansfield ISD so this, for me, is very special.”

Among the many school campuses throughout the years, Huckabee also designed the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts and features the beautiful facility on the company’s website as part of its portfolio.
