Health Students Qualify for International Contest

Twenty-three Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) participated in state competition April 3-5, 2024, in Galveston, Texas. Seven of those students will advance to national competition in Houston, Texas on June 26, 2024. 

Every student placed in the top ten at the state competition. Congratulations to winners:

The competition aligns with Vision 2030, the district’s strategic plan to ensure students are career ready upon graduation. The sponsors for the Ben Barber Innovation Academy chapter are teachers Annette Gonzales, Sheila Holbrooks, and Crista Parr. 

HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies.

HOSA’s mission is to empower future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience.
