The Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees held a public hearing on the 2026-27 budget at its meeting Tuesday, June 23, and approved the General, Student Nutrition and Debt Service Fund budgets.

The General Fund budget includes a 2% increase from the midpoint for all staff.

Responding to feedback from MISD staff and the community about the need for a more substantive salary increase for the district’s paraprofessionals, the board approved a 5% midpoint raise for all full-time paras. Additionally, in support of students in special education, the district added eight professional positions and eight paraprofessional positions in that department.

The budget also addresses the recent rise in health insurance premium costs with an additional $37 per month toward employer medical insurance contributions for employees enrolled in the primary TRS ActiveCare plan.

“We believe the best way to support our students is to hire and retain quality teachers and staff,” said Board President Dr. Jandel Crutchfield. “We want MISD employees to know their hard work and commitment to excellence are recognized, and we value them.”

The 2026-27 budget meets the Board’s goal of allowing the district’s fund balance to maintain the equivalent of three months of expenditures, which is similar to a “Rainy Day Fund.” The Maintenance and Operations and Interest and Sinking fund tax rates will be adopted in August after the July certified property values are received.
