All MISD Marching Bands Earn Superior Marks at Region Contest

All five of Mansfield ISD’s high school marching bands earned the highest distinction given at the 2019 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region Marching Band Contest.

The Region 5 bands competed on Oct. 15 at MISD’s Vernon Newsom Stadium. They were judged on their tone, musicianship, execution and drill design.

After the judges deliberated, Mansfield High, Lake Ridge High, Legacy High, Summit High and Timberview High all received the Superior mark, also known as a Division I rating, from all three judges.

UIL rules state that conferences 6A and 4A have the opportunity to advance to area in even-numbered years. Conferences 5A, 3A and 2A can advance in odd-numbered years.

Therefore, Legacy High and Timberview High will be advancing to the area competition. The competition will take place Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex in North Richland Hills.

Winners of the area contest go on to compete at the state level.
