Step One: Go to any DPS office, ask for CDL Class “B” book.
Step Two: Study and take Section 10 (School buses) Test
Step Three: Pass MISD Transportation level one performance qualification test. The test includes: Exiting out of the back door of the bus in 25 seconds, physically stepping through an opened emergency exit roof hatch and walking to a parked bus on the parking lot, and back on the second floor within three minutes.
Step Four: View all Transportation videos, sign up with Transportation for 20hr school bus certification class and DOT physical/medical card. Management may get you a temporary school bus certification card for six months if you have never driven a school bus before or if your certification has expired over two to five years. However, you must take the 20hr certification class within the six months of receiving the temporary school bus certification is current.
Step Five: Behind the wheel training with Transportation trainer - The training will take you five days (three hours each day)
