The Mansfield ISD Vocational Training Department will hold Destination Vocation, a workshop for students to learn skills including resume building, application completion, and more. The event will take place at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, April 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 pm.
Business leaders from throughout the Mansfield-Arlington area will support the event by conducting practice interviews with participating students. Some of the leaders will include a former MISD Associate Superintendent, representatives from the five branches of the military, and entrepreneurs.
Former boxer, Errol “Spyda” Sidney, Jr., will give the keynote address focusing on hard work and perseverance.
“My goal is to leave each individual I come in contact with transformed, mind renewed and ready to attack the days to come,” said Sidney.
In addition to interview practice and a keynote speaker, the event will also provide leadership training from the staff of Camp Thurman.
The Destination Vocational seminar has been designed to reinforce what has been taught to students in the Career Preparation programs from all five high schools in MISD. Approximately 100 students from across the district are expected at the event to practice what they have learned throughout the year.
