Criminology Program

(partnership with University of Texas at Arlington)

MISD has partnered with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) to offer field specific courses in the area of criminal justice to MISD seniors. These courses are are held outside of the school day or during the summer at the UTA campus.

Program Requirements

Students interested in the Criminology Program must at least ONE of following requirements:

  • Rank in the top 20% of your class
  • Meet PSAT and or SAT score requirements (Due to changes in testing, see your campus counselor for score requirements.)
  • PLAN composite score of at least a 23, or ACT composite score of at least a 23.
  • 3.5 unweighted grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Tuition & Fees

All courses are held on the UTA campus after school hours or during the summer and transportation is not provided.

Course Fees

  • $50 per course

Additional Fees

  • Application fee - $60 (one-time fee)
  • Parking permit - $30
  • Meningitis Shot/Documentation - $10

None of the above fees are covered by Mansfield.

Textbooks

MISD will reimburse students up to $100 per semester for textbooks. A receipt must be submitted for reimbursement. Please see your campus counselor for more information about the process.

The following courses are offered through the program. Each course is three hours.

  • Introduction to Criminal Justice (CRCJ 2334)
  • Introduction to Law Enforcement (CRCJ 2350)
