Committee Composition

The Mansfield ISD Legislative Leadership Committee is comprised of 100 members representing 9 diverse stakeholder groups across our district community. This broad representation ensures that multiple perspectives are included when discussing legislative priorities that impact our schools 

Membership Breakdown

  • 10 Students – Application; appointed by MISD staff

  • 10 Parents – Application; appointed by MISD staff

  • 20 MISD Teachers – Application; appointed by MISD staff

  • 10 Other Campus Staff – Application; appointed by MISD staff

  • 10 Principals – Application; appointed by MISD staff

  • 10 Central Administration Representatives – Appointed by MISD staff

  • 6 PTA Members – Appointed by PTA leadership in coordination with MISD

  • 14 Community Members – Application; appointed by the MISD Board of Trustees

  • 10 Business Community Members – Appointed by MISD staff

Terms of Membership

  • Committee terms follow a two-year legislative cycle.

  • Members serve a two-year term beginning in October of odd-numbered years.

  • There are no term limits; however, all members must re-apply at the conclusion of each term

Membership Commitments

To maintain their position, all committee members must agree to the following:

  • Attendance at a minimum of 70% of all full committee and subcommittee meetings.
  • Commitment to Purpose – Serving in an advisory capacity to the MISD Board of Trustees and administration on legislative priorities, always aligning with the district’s mission to inspire and educate students to be productive citizens.
  • Adherence to Committee Norms:
    • Maintain a positive and constructive tone in all meetings.
    • Work in the best interest of the district as a whole.
    • Address concerns only when a viable solution can also be offered.
    • Listen respectfully and consider matters from multiple perspectives.
