Art Program

Art Show display 2

The elementary art program provides the foundation for each art student in the Mansfield Independent School District. Each student is introduced to art history and culture which enables the student to develop and organize ideas. The students are also exposed to the Elements and Principles of Design, which are the tools of a successful art program. It is hoped that each child will develop the skills necessary for producing drawings, paintings, ceramics and constructive sculptures using a variety of materials and media. All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.

Music Program

The goal of the Mansfield ISD music program at the elementary level is musical literacy. Students are engaged in a variety of activities where they listen to music of the highest quality and sing, move, and perform a rich mixture of folk, seasonal and patriotic music.

Each elementary music classroom contains a variety of instruments, as well as a two-octave set of choir-chimes. Many of the teachers use the techniques of Zoltan Kodaly, Carl Orff and Edwin Gordon which further enable the students to successfully perform independently and in groups. All elementary choirs perform several times throughout the school year.
