Middle School Cheerleading
The Cheer/Mascot Constitution
The middle school cheer program, governed by the district's cheer and mascot constitution, begins with a series of orientation meetings followed by the submission of required documentation at the district and campus level by noted deadlines. Review the Mansfield ISD cheer/mascot constitution.
Parent Meetings / Clinics & Tryouts
Parent informational meetings are held annually to discuss major aspects of the cheer program. While attendance at these meetings is not required, it is strongly encouraged as meetings also cover the application and tryout process and address common questions about the program.
The 2023 parent meeting will be held on Friday, Jan. 6 at the Dr. Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts. Two sessions are available at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Clinics and Tryouts
Clinics are held annually in the spring to prepare and teach interested candidates aspects of the cheerleading program in preparation for tryouts.
The 2023-24 cheer clinics will be held March 20-23, 2023. Tryouts will be held at Lake Ridge High School on March 24-25.
The Application Process
Applications can only be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. Students are not allowed to submit the district-level application.
Applications can be submitted online or emailed to FineArts@misdmail.org.
Applications will open Jan. 5, 2023. (The deadline to apply is Monday, Feb. 6.)
In an effort to create more transparency in the clinic and tryout process, middle school parents and students will have access to cheerleading score sheet used during tryouts to see how participants are scored.
In order to participate participate in cheer and/or drill team within Mansfield ISD, all students must have a physical exam, submit medical history and complete required electronic forms prior to participating in an athletic class, practice or event. Get started with the Athletic Participation Packet.
