The Mansfield ISD Orchestra Program made its debut at the beginning of the 2016-17 school year. The orchestra program, offered at all six intermediate schools, will start with fifth-graders with plans of expanding each year.
The Fine Arts Department will implement the string program in the following phases:
- 2016-17: fifth-grade pre-orchestra (an introduction to string instruments)
- 2017-18: sixth-grade beginning orchestra
- 2018-19: middle school orchestra
- 2020-21: high school orchestra
“We believe the addition of a string program will be an important component in offering a well-rounded balance of options in the visual and performing arts," said Fine Arts Director Dr. Russell Sanders.
There is no application process to apply for the orchestra program. Students only need to sign up for orchestra as an elective. Course selection sheets are provided in the spring for students to sign up for electives being offered in the upcoming school term. If you have further questions, please contact your intermediate school counselor.
