Middle School Cheerleading

The middle school cheer program begins with a series of orientation meetings followed by the submission of required documentation at the district and campus level by noted deadlines.

Parent Orientations

Parent informational meetings are held annually to discuss major aspects of the cheer program. While attendance is not required, parents should note that the meetings also cover the application and tryout process as well as address common questions about the program.

Informational meetings for 2021-22 middle school cheerleading tryouts were conducted online through informational videos and electronic documents.

The Application Process

The application process includes the submission of both district and campus required documents. Specific deadlines apply to each component of the application process.

District-Level Document Submissions
The cheer/mascot application can only be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. Students are not allowed to submit the district-level application.

Applications can be submitted online, mailed to MISD Fine Arts (1120 W. Debbie Lane, Mansfield, TX 76063) or emailed to finearts@misdmail.org.

The deadline to submit middle school cheer/mascot applications ended on Thursday, April 1.

Campus-Level Document Submissions
Each cheer program has specific requirements for the tryout process. While the requirements for each program are generally the same, the documents required by programs may vary.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the cheerleading coach indicated in the packet. The best source of information about the specifics of a particular program is the current coach and parents are strongly encouraged to rely upon them instead of information from any other source.

Required documents at the campus level must be submitted by the noted deadlines within each checklist.

Cheer/Mascot Tryout Packets
Please refer to the checklist for required documents and their associated deadlines for each individual middle school cheer program.

Clinics & Tryouts

Clinics will take place in April at the student's campus. Tryouts will also be held in April in the gymnasiums at Legacy High School and Mansfield High School. During clinics and tryouts, COVID-19 safety protocols will be adhered to.
