Middle School Cheerleading
The middle school cheer program begins with a series of orientation meetings followed by the submission of required documentation at the district and campus level by noted deadlines.
Parent informational meetings are held annually to discuss major aspects of the cheer program. While attendance at these meetings is not required, parents should note that the meetings also cover the application and tryout process as well as address common questions about the program.
Informational meetings for 2020-21 middle school cheerleading tryouts will be held at the Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts on the following days:
- Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 at 7 p.m.
Parents may elect to attend either meeting.
The Application Process
The application process includes the submission of both district and campus required documents. Specific deadlines apply to each component of the application process.
District-Level Document Submissions
The cheer/mascot application can only be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. Students are not allowed to submit the district-level application. Applications can be returned in person at either a parent orientation meeting or the MISD Fine Arts department (1120 W. Debbie Lane, Mansfield, TX 76063).
The middle school cheer/mascot application is made available online and at both orientation meetings. The filing deadline is Friday, Feb. 28 at 6:00 p.m.
Campus-Level Document Submissions
Each cheer program has specific requirements for the tryout process. While the requirements for each program are generally the same, the documents required by programs may vary.
If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the varsity cheerleading coach indicated in the packet. The best source of information about the specifics of a particular program is the current coach and parents are strongly encouraged to rely upon them instead of information from any other source.
