High School Cheerleading
The Cheer/Mascot Constitution
The high school cheer program, governed by the district's cheer and mascot constitution, begins with a series of orientation meetings followed by the submission of required documentation at the district and campus level by noted deadlines. Parent informational meetings are held annually to discuss major aspects of the cheer program. While attendance is not required, parents should note that the meetings also cover the application and tryout process as well as address common questions about the program.
Informational meetings for 2021-22 high school cheerleading tryouts were conducted online through informational videos and electronic documents.
The Application Process
The application process includes the submission of both district and campus required documents. Specific deadlines apply to each component of the application process.
District-Level Document Submissions
The cheer/mascot application can only be submitted by a parent or legal guardian. Students are not allowed to submit the district-level application.
Applications can be submitted online, mailed to MISD Fine Arts (1120 W. Debbie Lane, Mansfield, TX 76063) or emailed to email@example.com.
The deadline to submit high school cheer/mascot applications ended on Friday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.
Campus-Level Document Submissions
Each cheer program has specific requirements for the tryout process. While the requirements for each program are generally the same, the documents required by programs may vary.
If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the varsity cheerleading coach indicated in the packet. The best source of information about the specifics of a particular program is the current coach and parents are strongly encouraged to rely upon them instead of information from any other source.
Required documents at the campus level must be submitted by the noted deadlines within each checklist.

Clinics & Tryouts
Clinics will take place in March at the student's campus. Tryouts will also be held in March at Vernon Newsom Stadium and R.L. Anderson Stadium. During clinics and tryouts, COVID-19 safety protocols will be adhered to.
Please note that the tryout date, location and procedures are subject to change due to either weather and/or changes from the state due to COVID-19.
