District Art Shows
The MISD Fine Arts Department established a new visual arts show opportunity to give senior advanced art students an opportunity to have a larger art show in addition to the District's Annual Art shows held in the spring. The shows typically run one to two weeks in duration and feature artwork from two to four students.
The Elementary Art program provides the foundation for each art student in the Mansfield Independent School District. Each student is introduced to art history and culture which enables the student to develop and organize ideas. The students are also exposed to the Elements and Principles of Design, which are the tools of a successful art program. It is hoped that each child will develop the skills necessary for producing drawings, paintings, ceramics and constructive sculptures using a variety of materials and media. All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.
"Every child is an artist." ~ Pablo Picasso
The Intermediate Art program builds upon the elementary foundation by expanding each student's knowledge, skills, expressive qualities and creativity. The intermediate level also introduces the students to direct observation drawing, expressive painting, multi-media works, photography, and computer artwork. All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.
The Middle School Art program provides a broad range of unifying activities. Students increasingly rely on the perceptions of their environment and increase the visual awareness of their surroundings, memory, imagination, and life experiences which provide inspiration for creating original artworks. By challenging their imaginations with new techniques and materials, the students refine their skills by expressing their thoughts and ideas creatively. All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.
"Creativity takes courage." ~ Henri Matisse
The High School Art program provides a variety of opportunities for the developing art student and prepares them for university study or careers in an art-related field. Course offerings include: Art, Art History, Drawing, Ceramics, Painting, Photography, Pre-AP and AP Portfolio coursework. The High School program offers a multitude of advanced tools, software, resources, materials and experience necessary to compete, display and appreciate art. All students are given the opportunity to participate in the annual district-wide art competition and show.
