Our Schools

Social Studies

Elementary social studies classes will focus on students' learning about the world around them in an ever expanding circle. First, they learn about themselves, then their families. As they advance, they learn about their state, country and the world.

In 5th and 6th grade social studies, students study an overview of United States history and contemporary world cultures. Seventh and eighth grade social studies is an in-depth study of Texas and U.S. history. In high school, students take a variety of courses including World Geography, World History, US History, Government and Economics. There are many social studies electives and advanced placement options.
