Expectations of a GT Student

Students who participate in services designed for gifted students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience or environment. High school graduates who have participated in services for gifted students will have produced products and performances of professional quality as part of their program services.

Program Guidelines

The state's goal for GT students is to ensure that those students who participate in GT services demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research and  communication.

In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the education GT students, the district will use the following guidelines for identifying Mansfield ISD students for the Gifted and Talented Education Program. Assessment opportunities for GT identification are made available to students at least once a year at the elementary grades and once a semester at the secondary level.
