Mansfield ISD Family,

This week’s update serves as a reminder for those who are following along in our superintendent search process. As mentioned last week, our in-person town halls wrapped up just before the Thanksgiving Break, and there is one more town hall opportunity remaining. It will be virtual via Zoom tomorrow, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m., so please feel free to join the conversation if you have not been able to do so thus far. 

Again, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to our community and our staff members who have participated in the feedback process. Your input and engagement are so important. The community survey will remain open through this coming Friday, Dec. 5. Please take just a few minutes to complete the survey and share your thoughts if you have not done so already. On Dec. 12, we will have a called Board meeting to review the feedback report from JG Consulting, and the following day, Dec. 13, the application and job description will go live for interested applicants.

We are nearing the end of our community engagement process. JG Consulting representatives have completed five in-person town hall meetings and met with dozens of internal and external stakeholders.

I strongly encourage you to complete the anonymous online survey, if you have not done so already. The survey will close on Dec. 5. It consists of five brief questions, and your responses will be used to create the profile that will become the job description for Mansfield ISD's next superintendent. You also have one more opportunity to attend a town hall meeting moderated by JG Consulting. The final town hall is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Click on this link to join.

Very soon, all of us will learn the results of gathering the community's feedback. Continuing our commitment to transparency, JG Consulting will reveal the results publicly in open session of a Called Board Meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12. The following day, we will post the link to the application and job description (informed by your feedback) on our district website. The application portal will accept applications through Jan. 10, 2026.

Thank you for your patience and participation throughout this journey. I know you are eager to bring it to a conclusion and begin the next chapter of Mansfield ISD’s story. I am confident this work will result in selecting the right person to lead us forward in the years ahead.

It's Monday, and time for your weekly update on the process of finding Dr. Cantu's successor.

Last week kicked off the community engagement portion of our journey. We are encouraged by the willingness of so many to take part in the process. JG Consulting, the firm we hired to support our search, hosted two town hall meetings – one at Timberview High and one at Mansfield High – as well as several focus groups. 

This week, we have three more town halls and several small group conversations scheduled, and we look forward to learning what our parents, staff, and community members will share. Please see the Town Hall Schedule posted on this webpage and make plans to attend one if you can. To ensure anonymity is preserved and that participants feel comfortable sharing their opinions, neither Board Members nor administrators will attend the town hall meetings. 

What happens next? When the community engagement period ends, JG Consulting will compile the anonymous feedback from the town halls, small group sessions, one-on-one conversations, and the community survey into a report for the Board. Using the feedback gathered, JG Consulting will then create a leadership profile (job description) that will be posted online with the application.

The search process timeline posted at www.https//mansfieldisd.org/search has been adjusted slightly to accommodate scheduling conflicts, but the proposed date when we hope to name our lone finalist remains the same. For the latest updates on the search, be sure to check that webpage often.

As we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday and upcoming school break, I want to extend my thanks, as well as the appreciation of the rest of the Board, to those who have taken personal time to share their input with the facilitators and to all who have completed the community survey so far. As promised, here is your weekly update on the superintendent search. The next few weeks are a crucial time as we collect your input, which JG Consulting will use to develop the candidate profile.

Town Halls
If you are following this webpage and our messaging, you know that the community engagement process officially begins this week. JG Consulting will lead a series of six town hall meetings – five in person at various high schools around the district and one online in an interactive webinar format. Be sure to check the schedule on this page for details. We have organized the town halls by feeder pattern, but all are welcome to choose the meeting date that works best for them.

Surveys
Individual surveys are also part of the community engagement process. All in our community are invited to complete the brief survey and submit their thoughts. The survey is available in the four most common languages in our district: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Arabic. A link to the survey will be sent out to you via ParentSquare, on this webpage, and through social media. The survey will close on Dec. 5.

Focus Groups & Individual Interviews
These small-group and one-on-one interactions are the third and final way JG Consulting will engage with our stakeholders. Participants will be selected primarily according to their roles within the district or community.

As a Board, we hope that many of our community members, staff members, and parents will choose to participate in this critical community engagement step. We look forward to sharing the candidate profile with you when it is complete.

Our Board has contracted with JG Consulting to assist us in our search to find the next superintendent to lead Mansfield ISD. As I mentioned previously, we are committed to transparency and engaging our community throughout the process. Every Monday, I will provide a status update here on this webpage and on my Board Member Facebook page. You can count on these regular weekly updates, even if there is no new information to report.

The Board members have completed our initial consultations and one-on-one interviews with JG Consulting. We now have a tentative timeline and other details to share with our community. The team will use the information gathered through these interviews and the community engagement process to develop the candidate profile that will be posted online with the application.

We plan to follow this timeline as closely as possible, but some dates may be subject to change due to scheduling conflicts, etc. Any variations in the proposed schedule will be noted on this webpage.
