Virtual on Teams Live Events

Mansfield ISD will host a Power of Choice Virtual Expo on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. - noon on Microsoft Teams live events.

The live broadcast, targeted for students going into grades 3-9 in fall 2021, will showcase the specialized programs within our schools of choice. Interested parents and students will learn more about our STEM, fine arts and Early College High School programs in time to apply for the 2020-21 school term. Registration is not required.

Participating choice schools include:

  • Brenda Norwood STEM Academy – rising 3rd and 4th graders
  • Brenda Norwood Fine Arts Academy – rising 3rd and 4th graders
  • Alma Martinez STEM Academy – rising 5th and 6th graders
  • Alma Martinez Fine Arts Academy – rising 5th and 6th graders
  • Jerry Knight STEM Academy – rising 6th graders
  • Charlene McKinzey STEM Academy – rising 7th and 8th graders
  • Frontier STEM Academy – rising 9th graders
  • Early College High School – rising 9th graders

    (Rising means learners will be entering that grade in the 2021-22 school year.)

Colors for Caring Mondays

Mansfield ISD is encouraging the community to wear a color that represents a cancer that affected the life of a loved one during Colors for Caring Mondays.

The Colors for Caring days for 2020-21 are:

  • Monday, October 5
  • Monday, November 9
  • Monday, December 7
  • Monday, January 11
  • Monday, February 1
  • Monday, March 1
  • Monday, April 12
  • Monday, May 3

View a cancer color chart here. (Not every cancer has a specific color designation, so multicolor or lavender can be worn to recognize those cancers.)

The Colors for Caring initiative was implemented by former superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas in 2015 after the overwhelming support he received during his bout with thymoma cancer.

Monday, November 23 is a holiday for students and a Staff Development Credit Equivalency (SDCE) Day for teachers.

All professionals and paraprofessionals may earn staff development credit equivalency for participation in professional development activities.
