Spanish Guidelines

Spanish is valuable for all of you to possess. Learning Spanish allows you to explore other cultures and gain knowledge through communication with others, connection with other subjects, comparison of our traditions and practices with others, and communities in the real world. Knowing a second language opens many doors of opportunity now and in the future. The Spanish speaking population is growing daily and by learning Spanish you will become more marketable in the workplace.

Rules:

  1. Be in your seat and ready with all materials necessary and assignments before the tardy bell rings.
  2. Respect others feelings, thoughts, comments, and practicing of Spanish. Remember we are all here to learn no one is perfect.
  3. Remain in your seat during class unless otherwise instructed. ( The bell does not announce your arrival and dismissal I do.)
  4. Absolutely NO food, drinks, or candy. You may only bring in bottled water.
  5. No cell phones, pagers, radios, headphones, cd players, game boys, ipods, calculators or any other electronic communication devices. The consequence is as follows: the device will be taken up and turned into the AP and may be purchased back.

Procedures:

TARDY- When the bell rings and you are not in the room seated you are tardy. You may not enter the classroom without first seeing your AP for an admit or tardy slip. If you are gone from class 20 minutes or more during any part of the period you will be counted absent even though you are present the remainder of the class period.

ABSENCES- If you are absent, the day you return to class check the make-up assignment folder you will find all of your assignments in there. Wait until I have given normal instruction to ask me any questions. It is YOUR responsibility to check the folder I will not remind you.

MAKE UP WORK- All assignments are to be turned in on the given due date, however, if you are absent you have the number of days you were absent beginning the day you return to school to complete and turn in your assignments. If the assignment was given before you are absent it is still due on the date it was assigned to be turned in. If you are absent on the due date of the project, then it must be turned in the day you return to school there are no extensions.

QUIZZES/TESTS- You must make up any quizzes and/or tests you miss within 2 days from your return to school. Again it is YOUR responsibility to see me about setting up a day to complete the work.

LATE WORK- 30 points will be deducted the first day the assignment is late. After one day the assignment will not be accepted.

EXTRA CREDIT- I do NOT give extra credit assignments or projects due to the number of assignments. On tests, you may do corrections for up to a 70 if you fail it with a 65 or below. On quizzes, you may retake the quiz for full credit/grade replacement therefore making it impossible to fail any quizzes or tests.
