Michael Hitt

 

Michael Hitt opened the choral department of Timberview High School in August of 2004.  Since its opening THS Choirs have earned UIL Sweepstakes awards each year.  And, have been named "Grand Champions"  in all divisions at the Winter Park Ski & Music Festival.  In the spring of 2008 THS choirs were awarded "The Gold Award" at the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim California.  Mr. Hitt came to THS from Trinity High School in the Hurst Euless Bedford ISD where he was Associate Director for five years. While at Trinity, Mr. Hitt's choirs consistently received sweepstakes and first division ratings at UIL concert and sightreading contest and “Best in Class” at various festivals each spring.

 

Michael is a graduate of Southwest High School in Ft. Worth where he was active in choir, band and yearbook staff. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music and Communications. Additional Post Baccalaureate studies in Music Education were completed at The University of North Texas.

 

Mr. Hitt serves frequently as an adjudicator for Pre-UIL and UIL events. In addition, he regularly accompanies for Region and Honor choirs throughout North Texas . He has also served on the summer All-State Choir Camps at Baylor, Stephen F. Austin State University and North Lake College.   Mr. Hitt has conducted and accompanied the Texas Ambassadors of Music Youth Chorale on their European Tours in July of 2000, 2002, and 2004.

 

In May of 2000 and 2003, Michael was honored by the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Education Foundation and presented with an Educational Mentor “Award of Excellence” in teaching.  His professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, TMAA.  Mr. Hitt has served the The Texas Music Educators Association in various functions including "Area B Vocal Chair" and in 2006 as Bass Section Leader for the Texas All-State Choir.  He is also an alumni member of the national social fraternity Phi Delta Theta.

 

Michael is the Director of Worship and Music at Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford , Texas . In his spare time, never mind, he has no spare time.
