| Mr.
Ponce is one of the most experienced teachers on the Summit Social Studies
staff and is now in the 15th year of his teaching career. Prior to
the opening of Summit High School, Mr. Ponce spent 8 years at Mansfield
High School, where he taught Government, Economics, World History, and World
Geography. Mr. Ponce began specializing in Economics in the Fall of
2000 and began teaching AP Economics during the 2001-2002 school year.

AP
ECONOMICS
Advanced Placement Macroeconomics is a college-level course designed to prepare students for the AP Exam in Macroeconomics administered by the College Board. Students enrolled in this class will study the economy from a broad perspective, analyzing the effects of consumption, investment, taxation, government spending, international trade, etc., on the overall economy. Special emphasis is placed on real-world application of macroeconomic theory. Students will also consider key controversies in macroeconomic policy from a variety of perspectives. |

REGULAR ECONOMICS
Economics is a senior-level course designed to provide students with an introduction to major economic concepts from both microeconomic and macroeconomic perspectives. Students will study the basic foundations of the free enterprise system, issues related to business and investment, markets and the interaction of supply & demand, government policies related to taxing and spending, money & banking, and the measurement and adjustment of the economy as a whole. Special emphasis is placed on real-world application of economic concepts. |
