Tarver-Rendon students welcomed 130 grandparents to celebrate Grandparent's Day. See the photo gallery.

April 2011 -

The second grade teachers at Tarver-Rendon Elementary went all out to teach adjectives. Each teacher dressed up as “The Adjective Person”. The students had to describe their teachers in a story making sure to use adjectives in that description. The students were then allowed to draw a picture of their teacher to go with their story.

The MISD Education Foundation recently announced two district-wide elementary grant programs:

• $4,299.00 to fund "Boom, Pow, Poof: Future Engineers Creating Chain Reactions," submitted by Andrea Bond, Charlotte Coker, Yvette Jones and Amy Senato

• $2,799.64 to fund "Ooey, Gooey Squishy Fun," submitted by Amy Senato

Congratulations to Lori Young, our Speech Pathologist, for Receiving the Heartbeat Team Award for
March 2011! Ms. Young was selected for this honor due to her continued efforts to motivate and encourage students.

February 2011 -

Congratulations to the Tarver-Rendon team members who finished the Cowtown Kids 5K Run on February 27. This is the 20th year in a row for Tarver-Rendon to participate in the race. The students pictured below are 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders that were invited by Coach Smith to take part in the event.

Patti Smith and Kim White are 2nd grade teachers who also happen to be runners. They inspire their students to be runners and to work hard in the classroom as well. The school team has been practicing since before the Christmas holidays. Great job!

January 2011 -

Congratulations to our 2011 Spelling Bee winner, Corbin Franklin, and runner-up Nikky Wright. Corbin and Nikky are both fourth graders. Great job!

Our spelling bee champion will next compete among all K-8 campus winners around the district at the District Spelling Bee on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Legacy High School. Good luck to Corbin!

We would like to thank the MISD Education Foundation for their continued support in funding District-wide Elementary Science grants.  This past Spring the MISD Grant Foundation funded the following District-wide Elementary Science grants:
