Jazzy Jags Honored with Luncheon
On Thursday, October 30, 2008, Mrs. Davis and Mr. Skinner honored the Jazzy Jags from the first six weeks with a luncheon on the stage. Students came two grade levels at a time to have an extended lunch with their principals and peers. Students had the opportunity to dine on colored tray of their choice, drink from long stemmed milk glasses, and sit at a table with a fall theme of candles, pumpkins, and fall leaves. It was a fantastic experience for all involved!

May 2008 - A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned (The Jr. Jag Bank of Trust Officially Opens)
The students at Roberta Tipps have anxiously awaited the day the Jr. Jag Bank would open for them to make deposits of their hard-earned Jr. Jag Bucks. Mr. Randall Canedy, President of Frost Bank, helped celebrate this long-awaited occasion by cutting the red ribbon and by visiting with the Tipps students about the importance of saving and how the Jr. Jag Bank and Trust was made available through a grant awarded by the MISD Grant Foundation. Student bank tellers, who each had to apply for the position, were on-hand to demonstrate to students the ease of making deposits.
Other Tipps community members that helped make this program a success include the DeMarque family, who built the bank building in the cafeteria and the Le Page family, who wrote a computer banking program specifically for our campus. We are very excited to add this community element to our program. |

Tipps Tiki Hut Built By Dad's Club Members
March 13, 2008 - Roberta Tipps would like to extend a special thanks to members of the Dad's Club for their dedication and hard work in building our Tipps Tiki Hut. (pictured right)
The Tipps Dad's Club meets the first Tuesday of every month. This service oriented group has been an important facet of the community feel here at Tipps and allows our students to see positive examples of male role models on a weekly basis.
They participate in Dads' at the Door, a greet and accompany students to class program, each Friday morning. Additionally, they sponsor the Father/Son Campout in the fall and the Daddy/Daughter Dance in the spring.
The dads have helped us move new items into our portable buildings, built and installed signs, bookshelves and the Tiki Hut, a reading loft inspired by our new library jungle theme.
We would like to express our appreciation to the members of the Dad's Club for all they do for the students and staff at Tipps Elementary School. |
