Mary Orr
Mary Belle Brennand Orr was an English teacher in the Mansfield Independent School District for more than 32 years, from 1943 through 1976.

Mary spent her childhood in Colorado City, Texas, where she was born on May 8, 1911.  Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Brennand, one of the pioneer families of West Texas.

After graduating from high school in Colorado City, Mary continued her education at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and received her bachelor's degree in June 1933.  She never ceased her quest for knowledge and

returned many times to continue her education at Abilene Christian College, McMurray College, the University of Texas at Austin, North Texas State College, and Texas Weslyan College.

In the small West Texas town of Iatin, Mary Orr began her teaching career in 1933.  She later taught for six years in Chalk, Texas.  From there, she and her husband, James Thomas, moved to Mansfield.  She taught in the Mansfield Independent School District until her retirement in 1976.

The Mansfield Independent School District is very proud to honor the memory of this beloved and dedicated teacher with this campus bearing her name.
