Grants Awarded To Staff - The MISD Education Foundation surprised our staff members with some large checks on March 12, 2008. Congratulations to our Spring 2008 Grant Winners:

| Mary Orr Intermediate's Operation Christmas Child |
Orr Intermediate School participated in a world wide opportunity: Operation Christmas Child. The MOIS Student Council sponsored the project which consisted of filling shoe boxes with school supplies, toys and other necessities to send to countries who have and are enduring poverty, disease and disaster. MOIS student body donated a total of 157 boxes!

Sandy Wheeler!
Ms. Wheeler was awarded the Above and
Beyond award at the 2007 MISD Employee
Recognition Reception on Monday, May 14.
This award is a district award that honors
individual educational support staff for
their exceptional efforts in going above
and beyond in their contributions and
service to the students and staff of MISD.

| Math Teacher Wins
Exemplary Award |
Barbara Lamb recently won the Jack
Harvey Fellowship Award for Exemplary
Teachers. The award is presented by
Weatherford College to recognize commendable
teachers in the college's service area.
Lamb has been teaching Math to fifth
and sixth grade students for six years
at Mary Orr Intermediate.

2006 Grant Winners! Grants were awarded
November 2006. |

The
Multicultural Club of Mary Orr Intermediate
School invited guest readers
from the school and community to participate
in their 5th annual African American Read-In
on February 5, 2007.
During this exciting
event, guests read literature written
by African American authors in the classrooms
during Stop, Drop, and Read.
Before the event
took place, the readers were served breakfast
while they browsed over their reading
material and the Mary Orr Step Team performed.
