New Library Circulation System

2008-2009

All libraries in Mansfield ISD will be using a new library circulation system.  As soon as it is "live" we will be able to start checking out books to teachers and students.  Stay tuned.....

More Good News!!!

Using the public libraries is now FREE.  For eons, residents in one town had to pay a fee to be a library patron in another town.   After September 1, you can live in Arlington or Mansfield or points beyond and get a library card in these libraries.  Yeah!   AND, more good news!!!   The Arlington Public Librarary offers Live Homework Help and it is FREE!!!   It is for Grades 4-12 with help in math, science, English, and Social Studies.  It is offered 3-10PM everyday and 3-9 PM Sunday - Thursday for Spanish.  Go to www.arlingtonlibrary.org.    Help spread the word.

To contact the librarian send an e-mail to Ruth Edwards.

General Information:

Our library collection of books is growing!!!

Library Collection: We now own 7,282 books.  We opened our school in August, 2006 with 1200 books.  We can be quite proud of our library collection

Hours: 7:30 AM - 3:15 PM

Check Out Procedures:  Students may check out 2 books, and they are due 2 weeks from the checkout date.

Fines:    Fines are charged for late books at the rate of 10 cents each school day.  There is one day of grace with no fine.  When a student owes $.30 in fines, he/she may not check out a book until the fine is cleared and the book is returned. There is also a new MISD policy that prevents the library from giving change

Lost Books:  Lost books must be paid for using the replacement cost.

Rules:  Students come to the library every other week with their Language Arts class.  They come with other classroom teachers for research and/or additional presentations.  Students may come to the library at additional times with permission from a teacher.

On-Line Library Databases:

The Texas State Legislature has given schools access to several additional resources including EBSCO and Britannica.
