JCMS Honors & Symphonic Band Receive Highest Award
April 24, 2008 - The Coble Middle School Honors and Symphonic Band participated in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Concert and Sight-Reading Contest on April 2 and 3. Both bands returned home with the highest award, the Sweepstakes Trophy. This is the second year the Honors Band has received this award and the first time the Symphonic Band has participated. We would like to congratulate all of the band students involved in this victory and wish them the best of luck in the future.
AVID Coordinator Dequita Fisher Awarded Grant
March 2008 - Ms. Fisher was recently awarded a grant through the Financial Peace Foundation, which gives grants of a curriculum ($1,338.94 value) to provide financial literacy education to students. These materials will be used in AVID and some Leadership classes. We'd like to thank Ms. Fisher for applying and congratulate her for winning the grant.
Builder's Club Weekend Project
February 23, 2008 - Members from our Builder's Club painted Coble Middle School trash cans over the weekend for one of their projects.

Coble Coach Honored with Scholarship
February 2008 - Coble Middle School tennis coach, Cynthia Planas has been awarded a scholarship to attend USTA National Community Tennis Development Workshop in Las Vegas, Nevada February 22-24, 2008.
Planas, the tennis instructor for the City of Mansfield Park and Recreation Department, is also the Volleyball Coach for Coble Middle School.
At the workshop, she will receive cutting edge information on topics such as programming and health benefits from the some of the top instructors in the country. Tennis is the only traditional sport that has shown growth over the last five years nationwide.
Planas played tennis locally for Midlothian High School and Dallas Baptist University. Prior to coaching she worked for Walnut Creek Country Club as the tennis pro shop manager.
She was encouraged to apply for the scholarship by Theresa Cohagen, her supervisor at the MAC (Mansfield Athletic Center).
“My goal is to find ways to make tennis more accessible to players of all ages here in Mansfield and the surrounding area,” said Planas.

Canned Food Drive Rivalry with Danny Jones MS
The students, staff, and families of Coble Middle School donated 5,519 items during the canned food drive October 29 - November 2. These items will be donated to Mission Arlington to feed the needy during the holidays.

Outstanding Students & Staff Recognized
Mr. Douglas is proud to announce our Outstanding Students of the First Six Weeks. The seventh grade award goes to Brandon Byrd , and the eighth grade award goes to Eric Johnson. Congratulations to these fine young men who are positive role models for all of our Coyotes.

Proof of Residency in the form of an electric, gas, water bill or lease agreement. No other documents will be accepted. The service address must match the physical residence of the student. Students will not receive their schedule until parents have completed the proof of residency requirements.

Saving more than paper
May 29, 2007 – Coble Middle School won the 2006-07 Abitibi Recycling Contest. JCMS received a banner and a check for $200.
We recycled 21,788 lbs. of paper, but we helped save more than just paper. Our efforts:

saved 185 trees

saved 33 cubic yards of landfill space

saved enough electricity to power 22 homes for a month

reduced enough air pollution to equal taking 24 cars off the road
-
saved 76,258 gallons of water
Coble Honors Band recieves highest score
April 18, 2007 – The JCMS Honors Band competed in the UIL Concert/Sight-Reading Contest held at Juan Seguin HS in Arlington Tx. The students were performing with bands from North Richland Hills, Haltom, Arlington, Hurst , Euless, Bedford and Mansfield. Programs that have been established and whom have had several years of success at the state level. JCMS is proud to announce the Honors Band received the highest rating possible at the contest. This is a great accomplishment for a first year school. "Not knowing what type of students or band we would have before the school year began and to make such an accomplishment has much to say about these students," said Director Darwert Johnson. "Thank you to the parents and staff for all your support."
The Symphonic Band will compete on May 10th at the Beach With-In Reach competition at Richland HS.
Coble Choir makes school history
March 30, 2007 – The JCMS Choir competed in the school's first-ever UIL Choir Concert and Sight-Reading contest with outstanding results:
8th Grade Girls - Sweepstakes Rating (Overall rating of a 1 in concert and an overall rating of a 1 in sight-reading.)
Beginner Girls - Received a 2 in concert and 1 (superior) in sight-reading.
Advanced Boys - Received a 2 in concert and 2 in sight-reading. Out of 24 measures, the boys missed only two measures. To get straight 1's, the piece must be read with 100% accuracy.
"I am extremely proud of what our guys and girls did on Friday," said Stephen Evens, JCMS Choir Director. "For a first year school, we were very well represented and several people came to me throughout the day mentioning they were super impressed with what we were doing and to keep up the great and hard work."
A Stellar event 
February 27, 2007 – The Fort Worth Astronomical Society came out to help James L. Coble Middle School celebrate our very first Open House for Texas Public Schools Week and Black History Month program on Tuesday, February 27, 2007. The Science Club students told viewers the legend of "Following the Drinking Gourd". The Students, Parents and Teachers were treated to a chance to view the Drinking Gourd (Big Dipper) and other celestial objects like Saturn, Binary Stars, Nebulas, Constellations and the Moon.
