***Welcome back, gators! Our library is in full swing again with tons of new books to enjoy. Gators love to read, so we always try to have plenty of great choices available!
***Grades 2-4 have been learning how to take advantage of the Gideon Library online catalog. It's a wonderful tool for browsing to see what's in our library and to find out where the book you're looking for is located. You can even access the catalog in your classroom and at home. Just go to: <http://216.213.255.221/uhtbin/cgisirsi/x/x/0/57/1/774/X/BLASTOFF/?user_id=IGIDEONESWEB>
***Grades 3 & 4 have begun to enjoy this year's Bluebonnet books. There is a wide variety represented on the list - fiction and nonfiction, novels and picture books, even poetry. Students who read 5 books or more will be eligible to vote for their favorite in the statewide election held in March. We hope you'll read many more than 5, though, because they're such super books!
***Of course, we haven't forgotten about our PreK - 2nd grade friends! We invite you to explore this year's 2 x 2 collection of books. These selections are funny, heartwarming, and even educational! :)
***We're continuing our program of reading to Shorty this year. Shorty is our Reading Education Assistance Dog, and he loves to hear a good story! We're first inviting students who didn't get a chance to participate last year, and later in the year we'll send out more permission slips. Please be patient - Shorty wants to hear from everyone!
***The Book IT! program sponsored by Pizza Hut begins in October. By reading books of your choice, you can earn free pizza - what a deal! See your classroom teacher for details.
