The MISD Education Foundation awarded Gideon Elementary over $1,200 in grants on Wednesday, November 12. Our winners are:

Gideon Elementary students welcome home troops

November 19, 2007 - The Imogene Gideon Elementary Student Council went to the DFW Airport on Wednesday, November 19 to welcome home troops from Iraq.
DFW is one of only two airports in the country that these flights arrive at on a daily basis. Soliders are usually coming back for a two week stay of R&R and catch connecting flights home from DFW.

3rd Grader Wins Essay Contest
Veronica V., 3rd grader at Imogene Gideon, was awarded 2nd
place in an Essay contest sponsored by the Arlington Animal
Services and Time Warner Cable.
Veronica's reward was a $350 savings bond at the March 6
Arlington City Council Meeting. (March 6, 2007)

The Mansfield ISD Grant Giveaway Team
visited Imogene Gideon Elementary on Wednesday, March 21 to surprise
several staff members with Education Foundation Grants for the Spring
2007 school term. The lucky recipients are:
- "North-South-East-West: So This is Where My Music Come
From" - Cynthia Nealis
- "Cowboys Count With Winning Numbers" - Melanie
Garrett
- "Math in the Library: Bringing Math Alive Through Literature"
- Nancy Stabler
- "What Do You Mean a 'Toy Poodle' had Puppies?"

Former Dallas Cowboy
Surprises Grant Recipient
Imogene Gideon Elementary kindergarten teacher Melanie
Garrett was surprised Wednesday, March 21 by former Dallas
Cowboy football player Tom Rafferty and the Mansfield ISD
grant giveaway team.
Rafferty autographed the $682 check that will go towards
Garrett's innovative grant, Cowboys Count With Winning
Numbers, which will help the students strengthen their
math skills by implementing youth-sized Dallas Cowboy Jerseys.
Rafferty played in two Super Bowl games and helped his team
win a world championship title in 1978.
