Grants Awarded To Staff - The MISD Education Foundation surprised DJ staff members with some large checks on April 2. Congratulations to our Spring 2008 Grant Winners:

8th Grader Awarded Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Scholarship

April 23, 2008 - Bryan Jordan, DJMS 8th grader, is the recipient of the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Scholarship.  Bryan's win comes after submitting an essay about the winning spirit of Tiger Woods. He was encouraged to submit the essay by his Pre-AP Language Arts teacher, Stephanie Vreeland. Bryan will receive a $2,500 scholarship upon the completion of high school and enrollment in college. He was among the top 35 peers chosen to the receive the award. More than 35,000 entries were submitted and all winners and finalists will be honored at the annual BBYF Scholarship Celebration at TWU on Sunday, April 27.

The MISD Education Foundation's Grant Award Patrol recently surprised DJones staff with some large checks. Congratulations to our Fall 2007 winners:

• "It's All a Big 'Myth' Understanding" - Linda Rink, Sara Visentine, Nicole Sheppard, Brenda Jacks, Leyla McCarty, Debbie Andrews

And the Winner is...

Danny Jones was victorious over James Coble during the Rivalry Week canned food drive on October 29 - November 2.

Results:
5,626 cans - Danny Jones MS
5,200 cans - James Coble MS

The rules were simple: whichever school brought in the most canned goods will have the losing school's administrators conduct lunch patrol while wearing the winning school's football jersey. The date for the Coble administrative team to conduct the Jones lunch patrol has not been set.

Danny Jones Middle School collected for Tarrant Area Food Bank and James Coble Middle School collected for Mission Arlington.

Grand Prize won the IPod Shuffle and a limo ride to the DJMS and Coble football game. Second and Third Place Winners were awarded a limo ride to the DJMS and Coble football game.
