From the desk of Mr. Travis Moore, Principal

DJMS is Geared Up to begin its fifth year of educational service to the Mansfield ISD community!!!
I am very happy to bring greetings to all Danny Jones Middle School stakeholders. I do hope that 2008-2009 year has begun with a positive and productive start for all of you. The DJMS faculty and staff are back from a restful break and are ready to receive our students into the Bulldog family. This is will be my first full year as the principal of Danny Jones Middle School. I am indeed excited to lead this awesome school.
The 75th Texas Legislature in 1999 passed the Texas Student Success Initiative (SSI). The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that every student makes the academic progress necessary to show a sufficient understanding of the knowledge and skills taught and tested in a grade. Grade 8 was added last year as a grade where students must pass the Texas Assessment of Knowledge Skills (TAKS) tests in reading and math before they can be promoted to the 9th grade. Many of you met these requirements in the 3rd and 5th grades. Please know that we have and will continue to provide the students with academic support needed for them to meet this standard. As a school, we did extremely well to close the 2007-2008 school year. We will continue the stride of excellence to maintain our strong gains in the area of state testing. Our motto for the year is “We are on the right track!”
As we enter into a new school year, it is imperative that students come to school everyday prepared to learn just as teachers come prepared to teach. It is also essential that students remember that in a school community, there are many people who care about their success. Students should make sure to use the proper resources needed to obtain greatness at all levels.
In closing, I would like to remind you that parents are always welcome at DJMS to visit with the teachers or administrators. We recognize and support the important role parents play in the education of their children.
Together, we truly can make a difference in the education of the students at DJMS!!!

Sincerely,

Travis Moore Signature
