Bring your Library Books!

Library Collection: Cross Timbers has approximately 15,500 volumes and subscribes to 25 paper magazines.
We receive one local newspaper issued twice a week.

Other resources include the Internet and online data research services.

Check Out Procedures:  Language Arts classes visit the library for check out every 3 weeks. All books are due 3 weeks from date of check-out. The date due is stamped on the card placed in the pocket in the back of the book. Students may check out a maximum of 2 books at a time.

Fines:  Overdue materials are fined .10 cents per day. If the student is absent for the entire day, no fine will be assessed. However, students must return overdue materials the first day they return and alert the library staff to their absence.

Borrowing privileges will be suspended for a student having an overdue book or owing a fine of $0.50 or more.

Lost Books:  Full replacement cost and a processing fee will be charged to a student if a library book is lost or damaged while it is in possession of the student.
Library Passes:  A pass is required to come to the library before school. Individual students coming during class time must also have a pass from their teacher. Upon entering the library, students must immediately sign in at the circulation desk.

Computers:  To use the library computer, students must have a signed, positive Mansfield ISD Acceptable Use Policy on file at Cross Timbers. Patrons may use the computers to search the collection for books by author, title, or subject.

Reading Programs:

"Read It Forward"

A reading program to encourage students to read a book and then share it with others. The book Schooled by Gordon Korman has been passed out to 110 students with the goal that they will read it and then pass it on to some one else to enjoy. Students are awarded a dog tag and invited to an Tie-Dying Party to celebrate success. Students are encouraged after reading the book to sign the inside cover, take an AR test and complete the survey.

A reading program that encourages Texas students grades 3 - 6 to read quality literature.  The students have an opportunity to vote for their favorite book.
