Cora Spencer was born February 6, 1909, in Lillian. She graduated
from Texas Weslyan College in Fort Worth, and married William Spencer
June 10, 1936. Spencer comes from a family of educators. She is
the niece to other Mansfield ISD namesakes Erma Nash and Elizabeth
Smith.
Spencer taught second and third grade for 35 years, and 22 of those
years were devoted to the MISD at Erma Nash Elementary. She dedicated
a great part of her life to teaching.
“She was a lady, a teacher, a leader, and a friend to education
in Mansfield and the surrounding communities,” said Nancy
Neal, Spencer’s former student.
